Midway through our Spring 2020 term, the UK went into lockdown so we had no choice but to move our training on-line. Thankfully the rest of the course ran smoothly and the students agreed that it hadn’t made any difference to what they’d gained from the course or the relationships they built with us and each other.
Autumn 2020 and COVID was still an issue so we ran the course online, ditto Spring 2021. By this time we realized that it made little difference to the learning experience and actually enabled students to join the course from around the world (we even had someone dialing in from LA each week which meant a 2am start for him!).
And as COVID is still very much on the scene it has meant that every term we have inevitably had one or two students come down with COVID. If they’ve been well enough they’ve been able to join in, but if they haven’t we’ve been able to record the class they’ve missed so they can catch up. And, of course, this applies to any other illness or occasional life challenge that may unexpectedly arise.
As such we were not able to film our students talking about the course as we had done in previous years. Instead, I have interviewed some of our graduates who have taken the course online so you can hear what they have to say about their online learning experience.
